Seven Airport Police Officers Receive
Commendations!

Seven LAX officers were honored at an awards ceremony held February 16 at the Los Angeles City Council Chambers. The officers are: (from left) Richard Taylor, William Handley, Vern Williams, B. Walker, Steven Zouzounis, Tanansuk Chow, and Gregg Iwamiya. Mayor Antonio Villarigosa presented the officers with commendations signed by himself and LAFD Chief Bamattre. The LAX officers, joined by four LAPD officers, rushed to aid a cardiac arrest victim at LAX recently with Artificial External Defibrillators (AEDs). These officers are a fine example of the dedicated men and women who comprise Los Angeles Airport Police. The beautiful commendations they received will be proudly displayed in the station lobby. They will remind all of us that our hard work and dedication are highly valued.

2005
IT WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR!

In the May 17, 2005 election, we were victorious in our No on A to Protect LA campaign to prevent the possible merger of our Los Angeles Airport Police membership with the LAPD!
Elected political leaders who helped support No on A included: Congresswoman Hilda Solis, Los Angeles Councilwoman Janice Hahn, Congresswoman Maxine Waers, Los Angeles Councilmember Tony Cardenas, and Los Angeles World Airport Police Captain LaPonda Fitchpatrick.

On March 22, 2005, LAAPOA's 400 members voted overwhelmingly to join LIUNA Local 777. "We're pleased to be part of the LIUNA family," said George Jarvis, LAAPOA President. "We firmly believe that joining Local 777 will assist in better representing our members as we continue to grow.
