(Los Angeles, California – October 4, 2007)  Eight new Los Angeles Airport Police recruits are joining the ranks of the Los Angeles Airport Police following their graduation from the Los Angeles Police Department Academy at Elysian Park on September 14. The new officers were sworn in by Los Angeles Airport Police Acting Chief Brian A. Walker after the graduation ceremony.

The new officers are Tia Moore, Dineen Villasana, Brandon Carr, Edwin Palacios, Desmond Jones, Cheryl Dickson, Larry Middlesworth and Faramarz Farnia representing Academy Class 307. All the officers excelled in the academy as high achievers and Officer Farnia was the proud recipient of the “Human Relations” award in his academy class.

Los Angeles Airport Police Acting Chief Brian A. Walker attended the graduation exercises, along with Assistant Chiefs William Thompson, Erroll Southers, George Centeno, Frank Fabrega and a host of other Airport Police personnel.

(Los Angeles, California – August 22, 2007) Five new Los Angeles Airport Police recruits are joining the ranks of the Los Angeles Airport Police following their graduation from the Los Angeles Police Department Academy at Elysian Park on August 17. The new officers are Percival Valdenor, Roxanna Mendez, Christopher Renard, Jackson Muchiri and Gerardo Torres representing academy class 207.

All the officers excelled in the academy as high achievers and Officer Renard was the proud recipient of the “Top Achievement” award in weapons proficiency with the highest qualifying score in his academy class.

Los Angeles Airport Police Assistant Chief William Thompson attended the graduation exercises along with Assistant Chief Frank Fabrega and a host of other Airport Police personnel. The new officers were sworn in by Los Angeles Airport Police Assistant Chief William Thompson after the graduation ceremony.

U.S. Secret Service Recognizes
L.A. Airport Police Dignitary Protection Unit Officers

(Los Angeles, California - August 9, 2007) Los Angeles Airport Police Dignitary Protection Unit (DPU) was presented a commendation from the United States Secret Service August 6 at the Los Angeles World Airports Board of Airport Commissioners meeting.

Secret Service Special Agent in Charge Ramon Maytorena commended the unit's Sergeant Fernando Franco. He also commended Officers Dwayne Myers, Jerome Smith, William Handley and Brian Le for the unit's continuous diligent efforts, dedication and professionalism while acting as a major support to the secret service in protecting dignitaries traveling through LAX.

James T. Butts Jr., deputy executive director of Law Enforcement and Protection Services said, "The Dignitary Protection Unit ensures seamless protection, safety and security of dignitaries that travel to and from Los Angeles International Airport."

10 L.A. Airport Police Recruits Graduate

(Los Angeles, California - July 24, 2007) Ten new Los Angeles Airport Police recruits are joining the ranks of the Los Angeles Airport Police following their graduation from the Los Angeles Police Department Academy at Elysian Park on July 20. The new officers are Naim Al-Amin, James So, Santiago Sanchez, Henry Ta, Adrian Bean, Damien Andrews, Adela Lopez, Ka Man Fan, Bartolo Castro and Porchia King, representing academy class 107.

Los Angeles Airport Police Acting Chief Brian A. Walker attended the graduation exercises along with Assistant Chief's Errol Southers, George Centeno, William Thompson, Frank Fabrega and a host of other Airport Police personnel.

Graduate Damien Andrews was selected as class president by his academy peers and delivered the class speech. All the officers excelled in the academy with three being recognized as high achievers. Officer Andrews was the proud recipient of the Humanitarian award. Officer Ta received the award for the Most Improved Recruit and Officer King was the recipient of the
"Top" Report Writing Award in her academy class.

(Los Angeles, California - June 27, 2007) Seven new Los Angeles Airport Police recruits are joining the ranks of the Los Angeles Airport Police following their graduation from the Los Angeles Police Department Academy at Elysian Park on June 22.

The new officers are Albert Carlos, Abel Moreno, Roger Denniston, Carlos Gonzalez, Francisco Elizarraraz, Danny Tung and Douglas Scarborough. They are the second airport police class to graduate from the LAPD Academy representing class 1106 and 1206.

Los Angeles Airport Police Acting Chief Brian A. Walker attended the graduation exercises along with Assistant Chief’s Errol Southers, George Centeno, William Thompson and a host of other Airport Police personnel.

All seven officers excelled in the academy and were recognized as high achievers. Officer Gonzalez was the proud recipient of two honorary awards being recognized as the “top” human relations and law student in his academy class. Officer Tung received the award for the “top” overall academics student and Officer Moreno was recognized as the “top” defensive tactics student.

Four new Los Angeles Airport Police recruits are joining the ranks of the Los Angeles Airport Police following their graduation from the Los Angeles Police Department Academy at Elysian Park on May 25.

The new officers are Sergio Barot, Roberto Figueroa, Pablo Ayala and Bryan Colindres, and they are the first airport police officers to graduate from the LAPD Academy in more than 15 years. The Los Angeles Airport Police Division transitioned its training of new police officers to the LAPD academy in October 2006.

Los Angeles World Airports Deputy Executive Director of Law Enforcement and Protection Services, James T. Butts Jr. and Los Angeles Airport Police Acting Chief Brian A. Walker attended the graduation exercises along with Assistant Chief's Errol Southers, Frank Fabrega, George Centeno, and a host of other Airport Police personnel.

All four officers excelled in the academy and were recognized as high achievers. Officer Barot was the proud recipient of two honorary awards being recognized as the "top" academic student and number one in firearms shooting proficiency in his academy class.

Also joining the airport police ranks along with the four new graduates are three lateral officers, John Shepherd, Abel Burboa and Salvador Arevalo, Jr. All seven officers were sworn in by Los Angeles Airport Police Acting Chief Brian A. Walker May 21, at the Airport Police headquarters.
